Deaf & Hard Hearing Program

People who have a mental illness and also are deaf or hard of hearing have unique needs. Access to effective treatment and the achievement of therapeutic goals begins with barrier-free communication.

Consumers can call TLS directly using a telecommunications device for the deaf (TTY). Our staff includes professionals who are fluent in American Sign Language and can offer assistance in accessing all TLS programs and services.

TLS staff members work with families, referral sources and support agencies to
coordinate community-based services for consumers who are deaf or hard of hearing.

TLS services provided specifically for persons who are deaf or hard of hearing
include:

  • Outpatient mental health treatment
  • Psychiatric services
  • Community support programs
  • Targeted case management programs
  • Medication management
  • Supported housing
  • Employment assistance
