Programs/services in Racine

Transitional Living Services is pleased to announce the opening of three programs in Racine. TLS has received Racine County Human Services contracts to provide crises services, transitional services and supported apartment services starting in January 2004.

All programs will support the TLS mission and provide:

Starting Over Services

Crisis Center

  • 8 bed respite facility – staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week
  • Offers two levels of service: 1-5 day stay and up to 14 day stay
  • Provides crisis intervention, referral, program & resource linkages
  • Mental health stabilization & support
  • Social detox
  • Crisis line supportive counseling
  • Walk-in supportive counseling
  • Hospital diversion

Respite and Recovery Apartments

  • Independent living with supportive mental health services
  • 6 apartment units – staffed 12 hours per day, 7 days a week
  • Provides case management services
  • Re-integration into community
  • Mental health treatment, support & monitoring
  • Socialization education & support
  • Life skills training
  • All referrals come from Racine County Human Service Department

Kismet Klub Drop-in Center

Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Activities at the Kismet Klub are geared toward equipping consumers with skills for daily living, personal enrichment, and social integration. Participation in Kismet Klub activities are not limited to TLS consumers. All interested adults with a diagnosis of severe mental illness are welcome. Services offered through the Kismet Klub include:

  • Art Classes
  • Movies
  • Sporting Events
  • Picnics
  • Volunteer Work
  • The Nutrition Program: Participants in this program are asked to help in menu planning and meal preparation to develop a greater awareness of nutrition and improved health. Breakfast is served from 9:00-9:30 a.m. and Lunch is served from 12:30 p.m.-1p.m.

Supported Apartment Program

  • 6 consumer occupancy
  • All referrals come from Racine County Human Service Department
  • Supportive services in consumers’ own home
  • Train & assist consumers to live independently
  • Life skills training
  • Mental health support & monitoring
  • Socialization
  • Concentrated care and integration into the community
